Posted on by Edge Leisure in Newsfeed and tagged , .

Whilst in our last post we reported on the recent influx of good news for club owners, including the new Club Leaders program as well as an all new dedication to swimming and PE in schools in terms of government funding, it appears we were premature with our celebration. This week, the reports have flooded in of Lottery grants going out to local swimming pools up and down the country, affording them the opportunity to revitalize their baths and get swimmers back in through the door, just in time for summer! Here’re just a handful of pools receiving some much needed cash and a reinvigorated swimming community!

Firstly then, steadily growing Northamptonshire town Daventry is having its town centre swimming pool revamped and refurbished to the tune of a cool £200,000. The money has come from the Sport England New Improvement Fund as lottery cash, and is aimed primarily at doing up the changing rooms. Charles Johnston of Sport England commented:  ”At places like Daventry, we find the pool’s almost empty because people are finding it difficult to get through the changing rooms. If you can make them bigger and more modern, then the whole experience improves.”

Meanwhile Market Drayton have received the very same funding, with £250,000 dedicated to their changing facilities as well. As one of the five leisure facilities in the county, the Market Drayton baths were reportedly long due an update, and this will come as a welcomed surprise to its patrons, no doubt ensuring more start swimming their regularly.

Lastly Taunton swimming pool is in line to receive a staggering £500,000 also from Sport England. With Taunton Dean Borough Council keen to transform the aged 70’s baths, this injection will no doubt provide a huge helping hand ensuring they are able to add greener operating equipment, improved facilities for the disabled and more modern changing rooms as well.

With many more towns on Sport England’s hit list, now is the time to get your pool refurbished, spruced up and properly maintained, ready for the influx of new swimmers that will be out looking for new pools any day now! Of course, here at Edge Leisure, we can provide all those services through our expert swimming pool builders, and whether it’s simply a renovation, a changing room revamp or an out and out new pool, we can provide!
